Artist in Residence

Harry Cory Wright

10th & 11th May 2019

This spring the artist is resident at the workshops of The Fairhurst Gallery in the Norwich Lanes. The brief for his residency has been to ‘chase’ through the possibilities of representing landscape by exploring the simplest of gestural mark-making.

The drawings are done with a sense of abandon; these are gestures made during a process of deep contemplation about a place. It is this duality of intention and chance, control and abandon that offers new and fertile ground with pen and paper. (Harry Cory Wright)

Harry will be working in the gallery space for the ultimate stages of his residency, producing large scale works on paper. Over 2 days (10 & 11th May) visitors are invited to watch the fluidity of his process as the works unfold and join an open discussion about the potential of the abstract mark in depicting our ever-changing landscape.
