January 12th, 6-8pm
David Gwinnutt is an artist and photographer. Last year saw an exhibition of his work at The National Portrait Gallery, London, and we are thrilled to be showing a selection of these works in January. During his long career he has known and photographed many of the most influential gay people from the last 30 years. Having recently published his first book “The White Camera Diaries” which focuses on his portraits of 1980s queer London and the untold stories behind them, David will be signing books and discussing his photographs from this period with our Gallery Director, Nina Fowler.
Quentin Crisp, Ossie Clark, Gilbert & George, Derek Jarman, Maggie Hambling, Rupert Everett, John Schlesinger Jill Bennett, Leigh Bowery and Edmund White are just a few of the people that appear in the book. David will be in conversation about the relationship between himself and his camera, his sitters, and capturing these iconic portraits.
Norwich-based wine merchants Harper Wells will be hosting a wine tasting to coincide with David’s Q&A in the gallery. One of their experts will be present to offer a fabulous selection of red, white and sparkling wines for you to taste and enjoy, included in your ticket price.
It promises to be a wonderful evening!
